Tech4Humanity · Human Impact Observatory

Research with a human purpose

Tech4Humanity is a research and innovation organisation focused on understanding how technology, institutions and systems affect people. The Observatory makes that work accessible: the questions, the methods, the evidence, the uncertainty and the opportunities to improve outcomes.

Why we exist

Technology is never just technical. It changes people’s choices, capabilities, relationships, work, safety and opportunities. We make those effects visible and help turn important questions into research that can be examined.

How we work

We connect lived experience, structured research questions, transparent methods, evidence review and practical collaboration. We distinguish proposals and scenarios from completed studies and validated findings.

What we bring

  • Research design and programme development
  • Human-centred evaluation of technology and systems
  • Survey, interview and mixed-method approaches
  • Evidence synthesis, measurement and research communication
  • Partnerships across individuals, organisations and research communities

Who we work with

People with direct experience, researchers, educators, community organisations, public institutions, technology teams and organisations seeking a clearer understanding of human impact.

Working with organisations

Research capability that can be put to work

Research design and delivery

Turn a broad issue into answerable questions, a defensible study design, clear measures and a practical research plan.

Human impact evaluation

Examine how a product, service, policy or system affects people across capability, access, safety, agency and wellbeing.

Measurement and evidence

Develop indicators, survey instruments, evaluation frameworks and evidence reviews that make assumptions and limitations visible.

Partnership and advisory

Co-design research with communities, institutions, researchers and technology organisations, from initial question through interpretation and use.

Research should lead somewhere useful.

We want better questions, stronger evidence and practical improvements in the conditions people experience.
